Captain Jack Harkness is a character from the TV shows Doctor Who and Torchwood. He is an ex Time Agent from the 51st century, and up until recently was the leader of Torchwood 3 in Cardiff. He's now left Earth, looking to run from his own past.

Immortal, (thanks to the actions of one Rose Tyler), absent leader of the now destroyed Torchwood 3 and ex Time Agent, Captain Jack Harkness spent over a hundred years looking for the Doctor after being abandoned by him on Satelite 5.

He stationed himself on the Cardiff rift and became a part of Torchwood. Over the years he did many things, WWI, WWII, lives lived, loves lost, until eventually taking over command of Torchwood 3 itself. There he build up his team, Suzie Costello (deceased), Toshiko Sato (deceased), Owen Harper (deceased), Ianto Jones (deceased), and Gwen Cooper.

And there, from an underground base in Cardiff, he tried to save the world...
