Jack often had curiosity for other people. Sometimes (and most times) it was simply that, curiosity. Oh he laced that frequently with teasing and innuendo, but more often than not that was simply the surface and ran no deeper. But here? Here Jack found himself examining the line of Alex' arms as she reached for her glass, and watching the shape of her lips as they spoke and sipped the wine. He'd also noticed the cut of her clothes and how they fell against her body.

"Oh I have," he said, grinning slightly. "Just come back from a little town with this lake that reflected the stars like a backlit mirror, beautiful, you should see it." Of course he didn't need to mention that said lake was on another planet quite far into the future.
"Is that so?" he asked, an eyebrow raised. "Where are you from, Alex?" His voice was almost challenging.
