Again, Jack smiled. He gave Reinette's hand a slight squeeze and let his eyes fall closed. It was funny, pain was one thing, but often it could feel liberating and even exciting. Because it wasn't the pain itself, but what it meant, and what it was attached to. And what was it attached to here? Saving a life? Well that felt just brilliant.
