"Oh I have my ways and means," Jack grinned confidently before straightening his back up and standing tall.

Head up and chin out he walked with her into the room full of people and elaborate finery.

"Hmm no expense spared here," he said, only half to her, half commenting aloud. He was rather out of his depth and an occasion like this. But that was okay, he liked being out of his depth.
