Jack laughed, though it wasn't really a laugh at all. He turned his head back to the mirror, but looking at it there was no way of hiding. He just saw them both. It wasn't enough. So he shook his head and glanced down at the floor.

"Oh that was a long time ago," he said with a half sigh. "Long time ago. We were both so different then."

He didn't quite know why, but he felt he ought to be honest. or at least somewhat. It was again unsettling. Jack didn't frequently do honesty.

"It was an old job I used to have," he went on, "guess you could say our lines of work crossed paths. Got sort of swept up in it."
