Jack looked to Reinette, for a moment, like he might be confused. But then that confusion melted away to something more amused, and his head ducked down with a smile that was likely his first completely genuine one in over a year.

"Yeah well, they haven't," he said, still with that smiling. "Just you."

A brief pause.

"And no men either."

Yet another small pause, and he looked at her, his expression soft.

"Sure you want to stay with me?"
